Jeffrey O'Connell

Partner

Partner Jeffrey O’Connell has devoted his legal career to representing individuals and families affected by serious injuries and illnesses caused by toxic substances, including asbestos. At Black, Naman & O’Connell, Jeff draws on his extensive 30-plus year experiences in toxic-tort litigation to help clients navigate complex legal claims and pursue the justice and compensation they deserve.

As an integral member of the firm’s litigation team, Jeff practices with a particular focus on discovery, case development, and preparing complex matters for trial. His work requires careful attention to detail, patience, and persistence—qualities that have become hallmarks of his approach to litigation. Jeff understands that successful representation often depends on the ability to thoroughly investigate a case, identify the facts that matter most, and remain committed to a client’s interests throughout the process.

Jeff also takes pride in serving as an early point of contact for individuals and families seeking experienced counsel for claims involving toxic exposure, injuries, or serious illnesses. His years of experience with asbestos litigation and familiarity with every stage of the legal process allow him to answer clients’ questions clearly and help them understand what lies ahead. He believes strongly in making the legal process understandable and manageable, particularly for clients and families who are already dealing with significant medical and personal challenges.

“I became a lawyer because I wanted to help seriously harmed people navigate the complexities of the legal system and obtain the compensation—and, ultimately, the justice—that they deserve." “I’m proud to be part of Black, Naman & O’Connell and to work with two other partners who are committed to providing thoughtful, effective representation to people facing some of the most difficult circumstances of their lives.”

Jeff approaches every client with compassion and respect for the demands that litigation can place on individuals and their families. He strives to minimize the time and energy clients must devote to the legal process so they can focus on what matters most: their health, their families, and their future.

Outside of his legal practice, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and teenage son. The family is actively involved with the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas, an organization that is an important part of their lives. Jeff’s commitment to helping others extends beyond his legal practice, reflecting his belief that each of us has an opportunity to make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of those around us.
